Kenyan citizens who are non-partisan, computer literate, and resident in the affected constituencies are invited to apply for various positions including Voter Educators, Presiding Officers, Deputy Presiding Officers, Support Electoral Trainers, and Clerks.

IEBC is looking to fill the following temporary by-election jobs:

Key Requirements for Applicants
To qualify for any of these positions, applicants must meet the following general requirements:

Be a Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan

Hold a Degree or Diploma from a recognized institution (for officer-level roles). Clerks require KCSE C- and above.

Be computer literate

Have effective communication and report writing skills (for officer roles)

Be a resident of the constituency or ward in which they apply

Be available for the entire period of the by-election exercise

Voter Educator: Role and Qualifications
Voter Educators will report to the Constituency Returning Officer. Their primary duties include:

Distributing voter education materials

Engaging civil society organizations, religious groups, and media agencies

Conducting voter education via face-to-face meetings and social media

Addressing public concerns and compiling reports
Key qualifications:

Diploma or higher in Social Sciences, Project Management, or equivalent

Minimum 3 years of experience in voter education or community mobilization
-
Must speak the main local language of the electoral unit

Proven report writing skills
Presiding Officer and Deputy Presiding Officer: Duties
The Presiding Officer (PO) is the overall in‑charge at the polling station, while the Deputy Presiding Officer (DPO) deputizes. Their responsibilities include:

Demarcating and laying out the polling station

Ensuring KIEMS kits are fully charged and operational
-
Opening and closing the polling station voting period on KIEMS
-
Transmitting election results electronically to tallying centers

Maintaining law and order at the polling station

Delivering results to the Constituency Returning Officer
Requirements:

Degree/Diploma from a recognized institution

Skills in data computation and people management

Resident of Ol Kalou Constituency (for this specific vacancy)
Support Electoral Trainers (SET)
Support Electoral Trainers assist in training Presiding Officers, Deputy Presiding Officers, and Clerks on polling, counting, and tallying processes. They also:

Prepare training venues and materials

Supervise lower-level cluster training

Compile training reports

Distribute and secure electoral training materials
Requirements:

Proven and demonstrated training skills

Ability to manage people

Resident in the constituency/ward applied for
Clerk (Polling/Tallying/Queuing/Charging)
Clerks work under the Returning Officer or Presiding Officer. Their duties include:

Laying out polling stations and counting rooms

Controlling queues and guiding voters
-
Ensuring KIEMS kits are fully charged
-
Checking voters’ fingers for indelible marks
-
Issuing stamped ballot papers
-
Assisting with sorting of votes during counting
Minimum requirement: KCSE aggregate C- and above. Must be of good character and a resident of the constituency/ward applied for.
