Position: Narrative Lab Internship – Research and Writing Intern
Status: Part Time, Temporary (Minimum 3 months, ~15 hrs/week)
Location: This position can be remote or work out of TLC’s offices in Oakland or Brooklyn
Reports to: Narrative Lab Manager
Compensation: $2,100 per month of the internship

About the Trans Agenda for Liberation Narrative Lab
The Trans Agenda for Liberation Narrative Lab (TA4L Narrative Lab) amplifies the political power for trans communities in the South and Midwest by resourcing the communications and narrative infrastructure of trans-led and/or trans community-focused nonprofit organizations.
About the Position
Under the supervision of the Narrative Lab Manager, the Narrative Lab Intern is responsible for supporting the multimedia advocacy activities of the Trans Agenda for Liberation Narrative Lab.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct media tracking and analysis
- Draft and copy-edit emails
- Research and write memos or fact sheets on media portrayal of transgender issues
- Support the development of a Narrative Lab newsletter and outreach schedule
- Represent the Trans Agenda for Liberation Narrative Lab at events, internal and external task forces, coalitions, workgroups, as approved by the Principal Narrative Strategist
- Participate in team meetings as requested
- Take part in professional development activities at the organization
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to proofread documents for both substance and typographical errors;
- Takes initiative to manage the execution of projects once direction is given;
- Excellent organizational skills and can handle multiple projects;
- Meets deadlines consistently in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to hand confidential information with discretion;
- Has strong interpersonal skills and displays cultural sensitivity and awareness;
- Demonstrates flexibility, agility, and adaptability to changing priorities, setbacks, and challenges;
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing transgender freedom and racial & economic justice.
